TANZANIA Cigarette Public Limited Company (TCC) has awarded 77 employees who have served the company with distinction for between five to 40 years. The special occasion took place at TCC Club Chang’ombe during TCC’s annual Family Day held in Dar es Salaam over the weekend where employees and their families took part in different team building activities and festivities.
Speaking during the occasion, TCC Logistics Manager, Rauya Paskas, said they were celebrating various achievements by employees and recognising employees who have served the company for a long time with dedication, commitment and loyalty.
“This exercise will subsequently take place in TCC branches countrywide to motivate employees and enable them to continue the hard work,” he said. Out of 77 employees who received the recognition, 31 have served for 5 years, 29 for 10 years, 6 for 20 years, 2 for 25 years, 6 for 30 years, 2 for 35 years and 1 special employee Omari Salum who has served the company for 40 years.
Omari said he attributes his long service to humility, devotion and cooperating with fellow staff. “I started at the age of 18 when I had just completed standard seven and I was working in the canteen as a casual employee but slowly I had an opportunity to learn new things and later I was offered a permanent position,” he said this as he praised management for valuing the employees’ welfare and appreciating their efforts.
Kassim Rashid, one of those who have served TCC for 35 years attributed his long stay to hard work and understanding what is expected of him in terms of delivery. “This has made my life at TCC easy and enjoyable as I get all the cooperation that I need from management and my fellow staff.”
Doreen Charles, TCC Procurement Leader, who was recognised for her 10 years of service, added “such long serving employees prove that TCC is indeed an outstanding employer that has invested in people.
“We are proud to be a “Top Employer in Tanzania and Africa” as recently announced at the Top Employer Awards.”
